International Scholarship Programme
A programme for museums, memorial sites, archives and research institutions
European countries have interpreted and dealt with the history of the 20th century in different ways. It is particularly instructive to look at the way museums and memorial sites have portrayed democratic and antidemocratic movements, the various experiences of dictatorship and occupation, and the Holocaust. How can we effectively convey the lessons of our European past through exhibitions, while at the same time satisfying academic requirements and taking ethical issues appropriately into account?
The scholarship programme aimed to encourage international exchanges that addressed these key questions. Support was provided to young staff members working at institutions in Germany, other European countries and Israel and enabling them to undertake one-to-three month residencies abroad.
The programme was implemented by the "Remembrance and Future" Fund and the German Museums Association in cooperation with the German National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Germany).
The last call for project proposals finished on 31 March 2007.
The programme has ended with an international colloquium which on 13/14 March 2008. If For further information please contact: office@museumsbund.de.
